Educational Objectives
By the end of this module you should be able to:
1. Understand the definitions of SIRS, Sepsis and Septic Shock
2. Know the basic pathophysiology of SIRS and Sepsis
3. Recognise the clinical syndrome of sepsis and septic shock
4. Know how to manage the initial resuscitation of the septic patient
5. Describe the priorities and potential therapies for the first 24 hours
and beyond
