Protocols

The protocols provided here are used in hospitals in Scotland. You are welcome to use them or parts of them but please acknowledge the authors if using the complete protocol. The Nutritional Risk Score on the NHS Fife pathway and protocols refers to results from our new assessment tool which will be available on the website after some further work:
Score = 0 - Low risk
Score = 1 - Medium risk: At risk of malnutrition
Score = 2 or 3 - High risk: Malnourished
Score = 4 - Very high risk: Risk of refeeding syndrome

Aims

To inform and improve Scottish intensive care nutritional practice in line with best evidence. The group meets three times a year at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.

Membership

ICU consultants, dietitians, nurses and pharmacists. Biochemists and surgeons involved in ICU nutrition are also welcome.
