Use of The Scottish Intensive Care Society (SICS) website is subject to the following terms and conditions. If you do not agree to any of these terms and conditions then please leave this site immediately. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. You should therefore check periodically for changes. By using this site after we post any changes, you agree to accept those changes, whether or not you have reviewed them. This policy is effective from 1st May 2014.

 

Information available on this website

We aim to ensure that any materials and information on this site are accurate, relevant and up to date. This site is intended primarily to provide guidance only to members of the SICS, other healthcare professionals, delegate attendees, members of the public & anyone with an interest in critical care medicine. It is not intended for use in actual management of individual patients or situations.

If erroneous or otherwise inaccurate information is brought to the Society’s attention, every effort will be made to correct or delete this where appropriate. Such information should immediately be reported to the SICS Honorary Secretary. Please note that the SICS does not take responsibility for any damage or loss caused by any inaccuracies on this website.

 

Copyright, trademark and printing

Unless stated otherwise, the SICS maintains copyright on all content on this site. The design of the website is owned by the SICS and we own or have license to use the photographs found on the website. Logos, names and images identifying the SICS are the proprietary marks of the Scottish Intensive Care Society. You are prohibited by law to reproduce them.

You are welcome to download and store information for the purposes of viewing and you may also print copies for your own personal use or use by other healthcare professionals in your organisation provided that you maintain all copyright and other proprietary notices and reference the point of source. You must NOT permanently store or otherwise copy contents for wider distribution or for commercial gain and nor must you plagiarise or create any derivative works from materials on this site unless expressly authorised by SICS. You shall comply with all copyright laws worldwide in your use of the contents of this site and to prevent any unauthorised access or copying of its contents.

Any content with copyright maintained by another agency will be subject to the copyright restrictions of that agency.

All accesses to this server are recorded and details about your visit may be used for statistical analysis.

 

SICS Social Media Policy

The Society’s social media sites are places where we encourage interaction and discussion between all those working, associated or with an interest in intensive care medicine.  This may include Facebook, Twitter and others.

We ask that you’re respectful in your comments. We reserve the right to remove anything we deem:

  • Abusive or personal attacks

  • Material that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, slanderous, hateful or embarrassing to any other entity

  • Third party advertising

  • Chain letters or ‘spam’

We also reserve the right to terminate involvement by users who post such content. The views and opinions expressed on the Society’s social media sites do not necessarily represent those of the SICS. Therefore, we cannot be held responsible for the accuracy or reliability of information posted by external parties.

For your safety, never include your phone number, email, address or other personal information in a post. Your comments are visible to all.

 

Use of Twitter, Facebook and other social media

Any content, views, opinions and/or responses to questions uploaded, expressed or submitted by the creators, sponsors, advertisers or users of Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites, other than the content provided by the SICS, are solely the views, opinions and responsibility of the person submitting them and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the SICS. The administrators of our Twitter, Facebook and other social media pages will be members of the Society, approved by the SICS Council to perform this task. These administrators will report to the SICS Honorary Secretary, who will have the ability to shut the sites down if they are in any way in contradiction to these terms and condition of use.
