Mr Jones is now on day 5 of his ICU stay.

The tension pneumothorax resolved and the chest drain was removed after 24 hours. His ARDS has been improving and ventilatory support is gradually weaning. Strep pneumoniae was grown from his endotracheal aspirates. He has been off vasopressors for 24 hours now. He continues to undergo daily sedation breaks but has agitated delirium.

However, this morning Mr Jones has become pyrexial and unwell. He looks flushed and has increasing respiratory secretions. His inflammatory markers are rising.
