Airway and Breathing

When completing A and B, what’s the first thing you should do? *

Measure the respiratory rate, as this is a sensitive measure of severe illness and shock.

Give oxygen if hypoxaemic.

Consider the balance between oxygen consumption (high work of breathing) and oxygen delivery.

Assess the patient airway by asking them a question.
